SARASOTA, Fla.—The Divine Performing Arts 2009 World Tour show, held at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota, was a magical event for the Mandrell family from Florida—Marilyn Mandrell, her daughter Kim Kisacky, and her granddaughter, Faith.
Mrs. Mandrell said the three have attended theater over the past 10 years, but DPA was “a totally new experience for us to learn about Chinese culture.
“I loved the dancers, but the backdrops were fabulous. The way you brought the people and all the angels in, and then they disappeared on the dance floor. It was like a miracle! Is this magic, are you creating magic?”
She said the tickets were a Christmas treat from her daughter, a time when families come together.
Her daughter, Mrs. Kisacky who is an elementary schoolteacher, said that the three liked to watch Chinese performances.
Paying homage to a traditional 5,000-year-old culture, the college freshman and youngest of the three added, “That’s a whole lot more than the U.S.”
