New artist Speech Debelle has the weight of expectation on her shoulders.

Yes folks, here we have a bona fide Next Big Thing.

Luckily Debelle’s raw talent breezes across this spectacular debut. It’s her lyrics and flow that impress, with soul-bearing, wise-beyond-her-years ruminations on love, work, friends and surviving without a father.

Debelle is a sort of female, jazzy Mike Skinner, and like Skinner she has the potential to cross over.

‘Spinnin’’ is a Tunng-produced anthem to positivity, and recent single ‘The Key’ is bouncy, easygoing and catchy.  A remarkable record, with lush, live production, this is the sound of summer 2009.
