“This showcase features the pinnacle of classical Chinese dance technique—shen-dai-shou (’the body leads the hands’) and kua-dai-tui (’the hips lead the legs’),” it states. “These techniques allow dancers to generate powerful, sweeping movement from the body, enhancing expression and stage presence, and blending strength, precision, and elegance into every motion—whether in leaps, spins, or gravity-defying flips.”
“We warmly invite you to join us on Gan Jing World for this special presentation—a rare opportunity to witness Shen Yun dancers’ artistry and mastery up close. Do not miss it,” states the event page.

Founded nearly 20 years ago and based in New York, Shen Yun Performing Arts has taken the lead in classical Chinese dance and music worldwide. It consists of eight touring companies, all of equal size, which perform in more than 200 cities across five continents with a new performance every year. Last year, Shen Yun performed for more than 1 million audience members, with tickets selling out in numerous cities, often months in advance.
The company’s stated mission is to revive China’s 5,000-year-old traditional culture, much of which has been lost or suppressed under communist rule.
Shen Yun’s performances often touch on themes of faith, virtue, and resistance to repression, including depictions of the persecution of Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, which is a spiritual practice that is followed by many of its artists.
“Though the persecution has persisted for twenty-six years, our conviction has never wavered,” Shen Yun artists said. “Through performance, we continue to convey beauty and compassion, hoping that one day this injustice will come to an end.”
Gan Jing World states that its mission is to promote kindness, respect, and trust among people. The online platform states that its non-addictive algorithms prioritize meaningful content, and values freedom of speech and privacy.
