DRESDEN, Germany—Beautiful weather, just as if summer had arrived, greets us today in Dresden. The beautiful weather has smiled down upon Dresden over the past two weeks and many locals and visitors could be seen strolling along the banks of the Elbe River.

The Dresden Cultural Palace, called Kulturpalast in German, is located beside the Elbe River, home of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra and the most important cultural venue of Saxony state.

It was here on Tuesday, April 14, where Shen Yun Performing Arts 2009 World Tour was presented to the people of Dresden, a unique portrayal of the millennia-old divinely-inspired Chinese heritage in classical dance and music.

“Here one grows up surrounded by culture, one inhales it every second,” said a Berliner, who grew up there and likes nothing more than to immerse himself in Asian culture.

Professor Sax, a professor of visual arts, said during intermission she was “astounded” with the technologically advanced 3-D screen and “touched” by scenes that changed as each performance unfolded.

She was told by a friend about the upcoming Shen Yun performance in Dresden and her interest in Chinese culture brought her to the show. The professor said she also knew about the abuse of human rights and of the persecution of Falun Gong in China through her travels to that area.

She said that she not only loved the beautiful costumes, but also the dancers gave her much pleasure and filled her with admiration.

The audience applauded from the very first moment the curtain rose, and assented their approval with customary sound effects—‘ooh,’ ‘aah’ and ‘bravo,’ vocally moved to respond to the critically acclaimed soprano Huang Pi-ju.

Mr. and Mrs. Bellmann are very familiar with China. They have visited Shanghai, Beijing, and Hong Kong and have a taste for ballet and art. Both are retired and may be found anywhere there is something beautiful happening. “We like the idea of harmony,” they said.

Mr. Bellmann said, “One has to take in [the show they have just seen] again and again, from within, and view again those things that have taken place. The acts all have a message, which can’t immediately be understood by us Europeans and Germans. One has to take it in.”

Mr. Bellmann had great praise for the performance, the choreography, and the discipline of the performers. “That is enormous, one can only say: Bravo! Bravo! It is unique!”

Dresden is the last stop for the Shen Yun in Germany, and the second to last of their European tour, before returning to their home base in the United States.

The company, one of three traveling the globe, has already been seen at the Jahrhunderthalle, Frankfurt, and the Friedrichstadtpalast in Berlin. Shen Yun is a showcase of China’s 5,000-year-old history in story, dance, and music.
