BRISBANE, Australia—Brisbane’s Queensland Conservatorium Theatre became a centre for cultural exchange this evening when locals from diverse ethnic backgrounds came to enjoy Shen Yun Performing Arts.

Various members of the NGO group, Queensland Multicultural Council, were in attendance, including vice-president Umesh Chandra.

“We try to understand and appreciate other cultures. The [Chinese traditional] art and culture, which existed for so long, and which is getting lost—the revival of that is very great to see, wonderful”, he said.

Mr Chandra, a real estate agent and publisher of the Brisbane Indian Times, said the stories presented, and the traditional values expressed, were “inspirational”.

“The whole show—how it is presented, choreographed, the sound, lighting and the performers ... they’re all so very well presented”.

Brisbane’s Deputy Lord Mayor, Graham Quirk, also enjoyed the cultural experience.

“The show has been a good display of Chinese history. It’s been a very graceful performance ... and clearly there was a message there of hope”, he commented.

Mr Grummitt, Honorary Consul-General of the Philippines in Brisbane, enjoyed the lighter side of the performance. “It’s lovely to see people doing something they’re good at and enjoying it. That’s the bit which I thought was the most touching”, he said.
