SEATTLE—Candace Jacobsen, who once danced with Joffrey Ballet in San Francisco, watched the performance by Shen Yun Performing Arts at Marion Oliver McCaw Hall on Dec. 30 with her friend Susan Moon.

“Their training is astonishing, and it’s very thought-provoking with the message that they bring to us,” Ms. Jacobsen said, adding that the dancers are “amazingly trained.”

Ms. Jacobsen had heard about Shen Yun through her friend who had brought her to the show this evening.

Noting that they are both teachers, Ms. Moon said, “My friend and acupuncturist ... brought me, and has opened up this world of an incredibly easy, lovely way to learn Chinese history.

“So this is very exciting to see all the creative and imaginative ways you can bring history, and anything else essential and important to other people’s lives, [to] young children,” she said.

Ms. Jacobsen added, “It was an astonishing trip through history, … better than our textbooks!”

Adding to her friend’s comment, Ms. Moon said it was an “easy ride”, and a “breathtaking” one.

Ms. Jacobsen said that she would “absolutely” recommend Shen Yun to others.

“I’ve heard about it, but I never had an opportunity to come to it before, so it is something that I would love to come back to,” she said.
