GEELONG, Australia—Shen Yun Performing Arts finished its Victorian leg of the 2009 World Tour in Costa Hall, Geelong, on Saturday night, April 4. Many members of the audience found it hard to pick their favourite part of the performance.
Mr. Thompson is the principal of a large accounting firm, and he brought his wife, Mrs. Doon, and his two daughters with him to the show. They felt the drumming was most impressive, but the choice was difficult.
Mr. Thompson said, “It’s hard to say. ... The opera singer toward the end was fantastic ... But you can’t compare ... because some of the dancing and choreography was fantastic. I think the phoenix dance [The Mystical Phoenix] was beautiful, and the Tibetan one [Dance of the Snow-Capped Mountain].
“I thought it was fantastic—beautiful, colourful, very exciting, and it had a good sort of underlying message to it. I think … about tolerance and compassion, understanding, empathy [are good].”
Mrs. Doon shared those sentiments. “I really loved it. It was really colourful. It did send a message of the same thing: empathy, forgiveness. It was great.”
”And hope,” added Mr. Thompson, explaining that he felt the performance was a message about hope, “When the fellow went to the art gallery, when he was injured, and he [was healed] [The Miraculous Exhibit].
“The costumes were also fantastic. The colour and the light, and just bright, happy colours, I think it just gave a happy feel.”
Mr. Thompson and his wife brought their two daughters, Madeline and Jasmine. Asked if he would recommend the show to others, Mr. Thompson said, “I think it’s well-worth going. If you can go, go. You’ll enjoy it. Take your kids, because they’ll love the colour and movement as well. Take the whole family!”
Shen Yun Performing Arts will play in Adelaide on April 6-7, before travelling to Brisbane, Toowoomba and Sydney.
