VIENNA, Austria—Mr. Franye, owner of an interior design company, praised the Shen Yun Performing Arts show after seeing it perform in Vienna on April 5.

An acquaintance had invited the Franye family to the Shen Yun show at the Vienna Stadthalle. The friend told the family that the young Chinese dancers are foreign-born Chinese, and the dance company is New York-based. They were looking forward to seeing stories from China’s 5,000-year history.

Shen Yun brings Chinese culture to life through song and story-based dance that conveys the deeply moral and spiritual traditions of ancient China. The dancing of Shen Yun is based on Chinese classical dance and includes some of China’s numerous ethnic and folk dances.

Mr. Franye was impressed overall and said, “The colors, the dances, the singing—everything was fantastic.”

Chinese dance is not totally new to Mr. Franye, as he was exposed to Eastern culture through family members.

He also commented on the two programs that told tales of modern day courage in China, Dignity and Compassion and Knowing the True Picture Offers Ultimate Hope. “The scenes where Falun Gong is persecuted—those were depicted extremely well,” he said.

Mrs. Franye was most impressed with the colorful and flattering costumes, and the great mobility of the dancers. “I truly liked those scenes. They were beautiful, the expression by the dances and the costumes were wonderful. They were absolutely fantastic.”

She shared that for her the most impressive scene was the first dance The Five Millennia Begin. She was also quite impressed with the powerful energy emitted by the drumming in Dragon Springs Drummers, and commented that the female dancers displayed quite powerful movements.

’We come to the show every year’

Mr. Traindl, a retired councilor from Vienna, and his wife had seen Shen Yun in prior years.

“We come to the show every year,” said his wife.

Mr. Traindl added, “We especially love the dancing and the music. ... The wonderful dancing and beautiful music [play] a great part in recommending this show.”
