Matt Sampson shows us what’s considered the most polluted place in the world. It’s a lake in Russia and because it turned into a nuclear waste dump zone, the shores and surrounding areas are considered lethal.
The lake Karachay is called the most polluted spot on the planet. While this lake might look pretty on the painting that is as closest you would ever want to get to it. Karachay has been used for many decades as a dumping site for radioactive waste and the result is the astronomical high radiation pollution. The lake is located in the southern Ural mountains in western Russia near the border with Kazakhstan. Nearby is Mayak formerly known as Chelyabinsk one of the country’s largest nuclear production sites.
