When we think of autobiographies, we often think of books. But singer-songwriter Jimmy Fortune’s latest release acts as an autobiography in album form. The solo artist spent just over 20 years filling the role of tenor in the hit country group, the Statler Brothers. But his summer 2025 record, “Songs of an American Dreamer,” released on June 27, adds to an already well-populated solo discography.
His latest project is a bit different. The track listing serves as a creative map of all the high points of Fortune’s lengthy career, featuring fresh takes on Statler Brothers recordings, solo material, and spiritually uplifting compositions that will resonate with fans of country and gospel.
