Despite Strokes-ey low bit-rates giving a live sounding roughness, this mild punk-pop effort is repetitive and empty. Inadequately layered guitars and voices make like the Fratellis but don’t quite make out.
‘An Ugly Death’’s gothicy synth is tightish and new-wavey but ultimately dull and doesn’t climax. The mind-numbing ‘Fluorescent Grey’ is a little Arctic Monkeys but without the sparkle or the melodies.
With build ups that don’t deliver, all tracks bottle out at the last minute just when you’re thinking things might get good. What a drag that the guts are missing.
