BOSTON—Dr. Levy, a professor at a local university, attended the Chinese New Year Spectacular at the Boston Opera House on Saturday Jan. 10.
“Well I think the whole program was spectacular. Particularly the dancers and the singing was really spectacular, I enjoyed it.” he said
“Some of the songs was a little bit sad—they described the despair and what is the meaning of life, but there’s was also the message of hope, so this is what I like about it.
Dr. Levy was accompanied by Dr. Even-Levy, who agreed, saying the message of hope goes a long way. “I really liked the message of hope,” she said. “I thought it was very timely. I liked the fact that we had the subtitle so we could follow [what was going on].”
She said the spiritual elements were “really remarkable.”
“I loved it, it’s really spectacular, it was very impressive. I loved the costumes—so colorful, beautifully designed.”
Hope in the Hard Times
Ms. Strack, a senior manager at a communications and broadcasting company said about the spiritual elements in the show, “I was really surprised. I didn’t expect that,”
“Something that’s artistic … it was great to see [spiritual elements] … intertwine them into the show,” she said.
“But it was also kind of … all trying to be good people, and there were a lot of references to getting to heaven and the divine, so I think it’s nice also to combine with the fact that it’s a new year celebration and every new year we’re looking for hope, especially in these hard times. So it was nice. It was a nice message.”
