There were celebrations at an animal shelter in Savannah, Georgia, last week, when every single dog was adopted, and the kennels fell silent for the very first time.
Such a significant event for the shelter had to be shared on social media, so on Dec. 3, The Humane Society for Greater Savannah posted their delight on Facebook.
“Do you hear that!?!?!“ staff member Nina S captioned. ”That is the sound of every single dog in our adoption center being adopted!!!”

Animal shelters can be sad places at times and often reflect societal conditions. Sometimes pets get lost, or their owners disinterested; other times, economic hardship means that tough choices have to be made.
The mission of the Humane Society for Greater Savannah, as set out on their website, is “Bettering the lives of pets and people,” and over the last 55 years, this self-funded organization has sought to do just that, finding forever homes for their residents—culminating in the extraordinary events of last week.

The Facebook post, which garnered over 1,000 likes and shares, continued, “This has never happened and we are thrilled to announce that every single dog as of 4.51pm this afternoon has been adopted!!”
The Society stands at the frontlines, ensuring that pets get loving homes and offering owners alternatives to abandoning their pets out of financial despair. Just a couple of days before the celebratory event, they held a pet food drive, reported The Western Journal.
