“The Blue Fairy Book” (1889) is the first volume in the beloved collection of fairy tales known as “The Coloured Fairy Books,” which were edited by Scottish writer Andrew Lang and his wife, Leonora. One of the fairy tales featured therein is ”The Terrible Head,” a retelling of the Greek myth of Perseus.

This story demonstrates that people are given the choice to face their troubles or run from them. It shows, through a young prince’s daring deeds, that only courage can conquer one’s fears.
