PASADENA, Calif.—Professional photographer, Mr. Alejandro, came to see Divine Performing Arts with his wife and two friends. Like many others in creative fields, he noticed the visual beauty of the show.

“Oh, I think it’s good. The choreography is very good, and the color, and the way they form their arts, it’s very uniform, beautiful.”

He expressed respect for China and Chinese history, saying “I think it’s good, it tells the history of how China was then, back in those years. It tells a great history.”

Mrs. Alejandro works in banking. She referred to the dance Heaven Awaits us Despite Persecution where a girl’s father is tortured to death for practising Falun Gong in China. “Yes, well, it’s good that we learned about the persecution and how it was before, but now it’s different.”

Mrs. Alejandro was dismayed to learn that the dance portrays the Chinese Communist Party’s current persecution in China. “Oh is it? It’s still going on? It’s sad, isn’t it? That’s one thing that we have to change, you know. We hope there will be a change in China, so that all the people will be free. Freedom is what we are looking for, and are waiting for, for China. And we pray that the Lord will do something for the change…”

The couples’ friends, Mr. and Mrs. Batoon, felt pride and gratitude towards the performers. Mr. Batoon, from the Philippines, said, “I think it’s a great show. Everybody performed well, and we’re proud of the Chinese performing arts.”

Mrs. Batoon said “Yes, we enjoyed the show, they are really fantastic, and they did really good, and we thank you that we were able to witness all the culture of the Chinese people.”
