PARIS—Divine Performing Arts opened tonight, Friday Feb. 27, at the Palais des Congrès de Paris to enthralled audience members.

Ms. Janin, Teacher of Medicine and Mr. Tannet were captivated by the grace and beauty of the depiction of 5,000 years of traditional Chinese Culture in the performances.

Ms. Janin was “really happy to attend this show” and to see all this “diversity of arts and Chinese culture.”

She particularly liked Mongolian Chopsticks, where the vivacity of ethnic dance from China’s hinterlands bursts forth in the contagiously joyful and festive use of chopsticks by these Mongolian women. “I love the Mongolian dances with the chopstick and everything that pertains to the young women’s gracefulness with their ribbon. I also liked the Tibetan dance.”

Ms. Janin continued, speaking about the Dance of the Snow-Capped Mountain, where the dancers vigorously celebrate the joys of the Tibetan steppes as they spin, stomp, and step in an extravagant gesture of welcoming. Long sleeves, sturdy boots, and colorful prayer beads capture the energy and character of these vibrant people.

Ms. Janin appreciated the explanations of the emcees, who explained the meaning behind the performances. She said, “It is also well-explained, because it is not a simple thing for the French or Europeans to merge into Chinese culture.

“It’s nice to see, and I think this is an initiative that we need to be able to continue, because it gives the possibility to be exposed to different cultures].”

Mr Tannet found the performances “stunning.” He said, “This is something we rarely see in Paris. This is a marvelous culture that we really are having a lot of fun discovering.”

He had been to China two years ago and saw many things. However, he thought the DPA performance had “more elaborate costumes” and “better dancing techniques.”

“I find this is something wonderful and extremely professional.

“For us in France, we need to discover things like that so we can escape a bit, and discover about Asia. That kind of show is rare in France, because we are not used to seeing so many colors and original dances—to discover this aspect is so rare here.

“We have many nice shows here, but I would say that such originality is rare. It really pleases us and makes us feel really good with all that is happening these days.

“The individual musical pieces really had an effect on me, the baritone is high quality.” He was talking about baritone Qu Yue, who sang “Spreading Sweet Dew.”

Mr. Tannet loved Knowing the True Picture Offers Ultimate Hope, where cosmic and earthly merge in a powerful vision of renewal.

Finally he said, “I also love the final dance, which I found was stunning.”

This was the first DPA performance, part of the 2009 World Tour, at the Palais des Congrès de Paris, there is one more show on Sunday.
