HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—Huntsville, an agricultural hot spot and a major producer of cotton in the southern state of Alabama, welcomes Divine Performing Arts (DPA) to the Von Braun Center Concert Hall on the evening of Feb 6. Along with this Southern hospitality, DPA received warm greetings from many prominent people in the “Heart of Dixie.”
Mayor of Huntsville, Tommy Battle, welcomed the dance company to his city in a statement.
“As mayor, and on behalf of the citizens of Huntsville, I would like to welcome you to our city. I am excited that Divine Performing Arts is again presenting its annual Chinese Spectacular in Huntsville. I have no doubts this Spectacular will continue to delight everyone who witnesses the pageantry, beauty, and thrilling choreography that will be on stage tonight in the VBC’s Concert Hall. Our city has benefited from the many hours your organizers have spent planning this event, and I know your performers and others visiting our city will find a warm welcome.”
Mayor of Arab, Alabama, Gary W. Beam, mentioned that it was truly an honor to welcome DPA back to Huntsville. He referred to DPA as “a tremendous opportunity for thousands of persons to experience an amazing arts performance and to gain a glimpse into the beauty and rich heritage of the ancient Chinese culture. This is indeed a special occasion that will provide an evening of unforgettable memories to all who experience it.”
Mayor Dan Williams of Athens, Alabama and Dan Stanford, mayor of Decatur, were in agreement with their views that the Spectacular brings the essence and the true spirit of Chinese culture expressed in the forms of classical performing arts, giving people a deeper understanding and connection to the Chinese culture and fostering understanding between Chinese and Western cultures. Mayor Williams offered further complements by stating, “Divine Performing Arts should be praised for its continued efforts to bring the best of Chinese culture to Huntsville and to the entire world.”
