Santa Ana—Having just marked National Park Week (April 22-30), you may be thinking about planning your next visit to explore the beauty of America’s public lands. Even if you missed the April 22 free entrance day to kick off the weeklong celebration, there are still several occasions when national park gates are open free of entry fees to all.

The U.S. National Park Service offers “free entrance” days each year to celebrate holidays and milestones in the history of natural preservation, such as the anniversary of the 2020 Great American Outdoors Act. These freebies are valid for all national park sites in the country—and there are more than 400 of them, including historic and recreation areas.

The next free day arrives Aug. 4, so mark your calendars and plan accordingly. Note that while entrance fees are waived on these occasions, some fees might still be in place for tours, camping, and transportation. Always check the website of the park you plan to visit for the latest information and road and trail closures.

Here are the final three national park free days in 2023:

Aug. 4: Anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act

Sept. 23: National Public Lands Day

Nov. 11: Veterans Day
