Decorating your home for special occasions need not cost the earth. Here are some easy to follow craft tips for all the family to enjoy and get involved.

1. Patriotic Glass Jars

Create your own American flag and Independence Day decorations by recycling your empty glass jars.

Simply paint the outside with blue, white and red acrylic paint using masking tape for straight lines.

The jars can be used as vases, a centerpiece, or a utensil holder at your 4th of July party or barbecue.

2. DIY Hero Mason Jars

This DIY Hero jar is perfect for Memorial Day, the 4th of July or any patriotic holiday.

Cut out your favorite pictures from magazines, newspapers and lay them on a clear plastic sheet or cut out plastic bag.

Then glue them to the plastic applying Mod Podge or liquid acrylic glue.

Also apply glue to the front when inserting them inside the jar.

3. Easy Patriotic Luminaries
