NEW YORK—The news host from “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy,” a movie box office hit, now has his own ice-cream flavor, courtesy of Ben & Jerry’s.

The name for the new flavor comes directly from the film. According to Ben & Jerry’s it is “a creamy concoction of butterscotch ice cream with ribbons of butterscotch swirl.” The limited edition ice-cream tub displays a photo of Burgundy, played by comedian Will Ferrell.

“Scotchy, Scotch, Scotch is a delicious ice cream and I hope Ben and Jerry consider my other suggestions: malt liquor marshmallow, well liquor bourbon peanut butter, and cheap white wine sherbet,” Ferrell said in a statement.

The official, limited edition, flavor was unveiled at New York’s Pier 36 on Tuesday. Before the announcement, Nutty, the Waterskiing Squirrel, which appeared in the Anchorman film, performed a stunt. The performance was followed by a Ben & Jerry’s scoop-truck-turned-Channel 4 News-truck and a crew of Ron Burgundy lookalikes posing with cut-out posters of the “Scotchy Scotch Scotch” tub.

“As a company who believes our fans deserve nothing but the best, we have great respect for Ron Burgundy, who takes the same belief to heart,” said Lisa Sholk, Associate Brand Manager at Ben & Jerry’s.

The publicity stunt was aimed at getting fans riled up about the sequel “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues,” which hits the screens on December 20.

Scotchy Scotch Scotch is available at participating Ben & Jerry’s scoop shops across the country. Over the next few weeks, pints of the ice-cream will also go up on sale in stores.
