SYDNEY—Valerie Jenkins is a ballet teacher with over 30 years of experience. She runs her own Jenkins Valerie Academy of Ballet in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. She observed the Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company with great interest.

Valerie commended the dancers for their discipline and artistic professionalism. The male dancers were especially impressive.

“The men are strong. So manly. Energetic,” said Valerie, adding that the boys at her Academy would greatly benefit from watching the show.

“Certainly encourage the students to come ... particularly the boys. They need to see that energy.”

Valerie was also touched by the core of the dancers and the energy that filled the Capitol Theatre during the performance.

“[There is a] lovely innocence about it. It’s just so pure,” she said.

Traditional Chinese culture pays great respect to inner cultivation and growth. This is especially evident in the arts, where it is believed that in order to create real art, there must first be inner harmony and beauty.

Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company will perform at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre until Feb. 23. Next stop is Melbourne, March 1-6. For more information, visit ShenYunPerformingArts.org
