TAIPEI, Taiwan—Mr. Chen, an artist who plays a key role in the Taiwan arts community, said that Divine Performing Arts (DPA) presents pure, traditional Chinese culture, as opposed to something borrowed from abroad. He attended the matinee performance on Feb. 28 at the Taiwan International Convention Centre. “It successfully promotes authentic Chinese traditional art and culture, and it is worth recommending to people around the world,” he said.

Mr. Chen is founder and president of the Contemporary Painting Association of the Republic of China, and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA), U. K. He said the programs include Chinese classical dance and minority folk dance, and their messages are abundant and delightful. Moreover, the landscapes in the high-tech backdrop are not only beautiful but also allow the audience to fully understand the meaning of each part of the program.

“The costumes are very delicate and unique. Due to the different cultures among ethnic Han and other minorities, their music, dances, and costumes are different and have unique characteristics. In this regard, Divine Performing Arts dealt with it very well. The music, dances, and costumes were harmonized so well that the whole picture of the show was exceptionally beautiful.”

As Mr. Chen has long moved in artistic circles, he has a high standard for appreciating artistic works. He said that if it had not been for the DPA’s high level, he would not have been as touched.

He said that the lyrics in the songs were advice to the world’s people, and that it was easy for the audience to understand and accept it. The entire show could inspire the audience to think about the origin and meaning of life. “As to why we are here, and why there are Buddhas and gods in heaven, people with different backgrounds may have different interpretations.”

He said that DPA employed dance to illustrate the relationship between divine beings and human beings, and that it was a great approach.
