France urged G-8 foreign ministers meeting in France on Monday to support a no-fly zone over Libya, but no agreement has been reached yet.

A no-fly zone has been publicly endorsed by France and the United Kingdom but other nations have shown reluctance. Germany is one of the nations that remains skeptical about the plan aimed at stopping Col. Gadhafi’s air forces from bombing rebels and civilians.

According to German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle, the move could get NATO dragged into a war, Reuters reports.

On Saturday the League of Arab States agreed on endorsing the no-fly zone over Libya. Now NATO is still seeking a Security Council resolution on the matter. Gadhafi’s air force continued to bomb rebel sites on Monday, pushing the rebels further into the east of the country.
