Aqaba is located on a Red Sea. As Jordan only port city it’s been very important place for trade. Aqaba really began to take off as a travel destination when in 1965 Jordan made a deal with its neighbor Saudi Arabia. King Hussein of Jordan gave Saudi Arabia a big chunk of desert. In exchange for small but beautiful piece of coast.
So Aqaba is a big cross because there are so many countries bordered with Aqaba. There four countries sharing this area: Egypt, Israel, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. Most of the Jordan people don’t swim beauce all Jordan is basically desert and only place they can swim is here in Aqaba.
Clear and calm water makes Aqaba popular place to enjoy snorkel.
