Iranian authorities have apparently released an American woman after investigators proved she had “psychological problems,” Iranian media reported on Sunday. The women was arrested last week after she had presented herself to Iranian border guards claiming she was a U.S. spy with spying devices in her teeth, according to Iranian FARS News Agency (FNA).

“She was deported via Jolfa border after her psychological problems were proved,” commented FNA, citing an unnamed source.

The 55-year old woman, Hall Talayan, was detained last Tuesday in the border town of Nordouz. Iranian authorities initially denied having arrested the woman. In July 2009, three American hikers were arrested and charged with spying in Iran. Two of them remain in detention.
