After a long cold winter, summer has finally arrived and this is the perfect soundtrack. Sunshine Pops! is full of quintessentially English, finely crafted pop songs with luscious harmonies and infectious hooks. Think of The Beatles, Beach Boys, or contemporaries the Milk and Honey band, and you’ll have an idea of where they are coming from. The sitar evokes a ‘60s psychedelic vibe to some of this album that manages to be upbeat and catchy, yet serene and reflective at the same time. Themes range from seagull call-infused musings on the sea to tranquil ruminations in an idealized English countryside as on Four Leaf Clover. Recommended.
