From the immaculate 44-page booklet to the carefully selected and arranged compositions, the authenticity of this latest release from Analog Africa is never in doubt. The compilation includes 18 tracks from 1968–1976, considered the golden era of Angolan music. The research has been meticulous, with label founder Samy Ben Redjeb travelling to the capital Luanda and overcoming numerous hurdles to meet in person with most of the artists involved. Traditional Luanda rhythms, Congolese psychedelic guitar, Caribbean merengue, Latin grooves, and Angolan carnival all merge seamlessly. Light, breezy, funky, and fabulous – essential listening.
