Hyped to high heaven on the blogs when the 2009 single Hey Boy first surfaced, Magic Kids release their debut with the exceptionally fickle blogosphere having moved on to fresher meat. That said. if they can tear their ears away from those day old demos for one minute, they’ll find much more of the same glorious 60s style pop that attracted them in the first place. New single Phone is, in the nicest sense of the word, a perfect Beach Boys pastiche, and sets the tone for an album in thrall to Brian Wilson’s celebrated troupe. The aforementioned Hey Boy remains the album’s high point but for half an hour of exhilarating pop music look no further.
