Named after the nearby docked Lightship Ambrose at Pier 16, a beer garden, beer hall, and surf club recently opened down in South Street Seaport.

The 1,600-square-foot Ambrose Hall features original concrete floors, exposed timber columns, and ceiling joists, and is designed to preserve the character of the Schermerhorn Row building.

Along with a rotation of 12 seasonal, locally sourced craft brews, and a cocktail program that features small batch liquors, chef Jason Mayer offers a variety of bar snacks, including charcuterie plates, German-style bratwursts, kettle-cooked potato chips served with beer-blended melted cheese, scallions, and bacon, and classic lobster rolls.

Just next door, at the Ambrose Beer Garden (19 Fulton St.) dozens of beer garden tables are spread throughout the cobblestoned 14,000-square-foot space, awaiting summer revelers.
