The city of Bogor is considered a suburban part of Jakarta that is perfect for those travelling in groups such as families or friends. Since the Bogor area is more elevated than Jakarta, it provides a getaway from the capital’s high temperature and humid weather. Not to mention, Bogor is known for its botanical garden that boasts of a rare plant life collection sourced from different countries all around the world dating back from the 19th century when it first reached Indonesia through Sir Stamford Raffles during the British invasion.
Bandung

Just three hours away by train, Bandung is situated southeast of Jakarta and offers a cool weather just like Bogor. Bandung features an environment reminiscent of Dutch colonial architecture together with modern conveniences such as food spots and even golf courses. This city is an ideal weekend destination because the route to Bandung is an attraction by itself with its magnificent sceneries of rice fields and pineapple plantations.

For those looking for some soothing peace and quiet, Pelabuhan Ratu is the ideal place to go on a daytrip. This fishing village located three hours away from Jakarta is the epitome of simple living. Compared to Jakarta, food and drinks in Pelabuhan Ratu are relatively cheap so you can try their seaside restaurants without having to worry about your budget. When evening strikes you can also enjoy the scenery created by fishing boats guided by the glow of their candle-lit lamps.

Puncak

Puncak is the usual holiday destination of Jakarta natives and other surrounding Indonesian cities. This reputation is no surprise given Puncak’s proximity (just two hours from Jakarta) and breathtaking view courtesy of mountain ranges.
