I’ve been known to indulge in a Disney movie here and there (eh hem), and now as a parent, I enjoy (insert high pitched squeal) sharing these stories with my children.

Walt Disney once said “I would rather entertain and hope that people learned something than educate people and hope they were entertained.”

Thinking back, I have learned a thing or two from my foray into Disney fandom. Here are 20 lessons that stand out.

“If you can’t say somethin’ nice, don’t say nothin’ at all.”

“In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun. You find the fun and snap! The job’s a game.”
—Mary Poppins (“Mary Poppins”)

“When you find out you can live without it and go along not thinkin’ about it, I’ll tell you something true: The bare necessities of life will come to you.”
—Baloo (“The Jungle Book”)

“But, oh to be free … to be my own master. Such a thing would be greater than all the magic and all the treasures in all the world!”
—Genie (“Aladdin”)

“Sometimes the right path is not the easiest one.”
—Grandmother Willow (“Pocahontas”)

“When everyone is super, no one will be.”
