Sometimes, taking a pause to look back puts things in perspective. In this 1999 video, people in Amsterdam are asked if they think they need a cell phone. Their responses say more about our modern day addiction to technology than about them.

Here are some of the answers people gave in response to the question …

“Do you have a cell phone?”

“No, I don’t.”

“Why not?”

“Well, I see no point in that.”

“Do you have a cell phone?”

“It does not seem like fun to always be reachable.”

“Do you have a cell phone?”

“I’m a student and I have an answering machine and that’s fine.”

“Do you have a cell phone?”

“I already know that I‘ll forget it everywhere. I’ll drop it as well. I am also happy without one.”
