The former assistant director of the FBI’s Counterintelligence Division, Randy Coleman, wrote a note saying “Crimes Against Children” in connection to the digital devices of disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner.

Coleman’s notes, which were obtained by the Department of Justice Inspector General, were taken on Oct. 4, 2016.

Just over a week earlier, on Sept. 26, the FBI obtained a search warrant for Weiner’s iPhone, iPad and laptop computer related to crimes of “transmitting obscene material to a minor, sexual exploitation of children, and activities related to child pornography.”

Weiner was charged with and pleaded guilty to transferring obscene material to a 15-year-old girl.  He was not charged with possession of child pornography or other related charges, however.

In his notes, as published in a report by the Justice Department’s Inspector General, Coleman wrote:

(1) Anthony Wiener [sic] (2) [Unrelated] (3) Wiener [sic] – texting 15 yo – Sexually Explicit 9/26 – Federal SW – IPhone/IPAD/Laptop Initial analysis of laptop – thousands emails Hillary Clinton & Foundation Crime Against Children

After obtaining Weiner’s devices, the agent processing their contents discovered “within hours” over 300,000 emails, many of them involving communications between Weiner’s wife, Huma Abedin, and Hillary Clinton.

The findings were deemed relevant to the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton sending classified information using a private email server.

From Coleman’s notes, the exact context of the “Crime Against Children” is unclear, as well as the mention of the Clinton Foundation.

Coleman did not reply to an emailed request for comment from The Epoch Times. Coleman left the FBI in December 2016 and now works in the private sector.

Coleman told the Inspector General that the notes “likely represent information he was briefed on, first thing in the morning by his subordinates in the Criminal Investigative Division,” and that he might “have passed this information to other FBI executives after the morning briefing with the Director.”

The agenda of then-FBI Director James Comey on Oct. 4 showed that he had a meeting scheduled with Coleman from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
