Standardized tests are a fact of life throughout academia, from elementary school onward. To demonstrate proficiency, follow these tips to reduce test-day anxiety:

  • familiarize yourself with the question format before-hand by perusing exams which have already been administered
  • visualize yourself taking the test and getting a high grade
  • get a good night’s sleep
  • eat a good breakfast
  • get to school/the test-taking center 15 - 20 minutes early
  • organize your time well

Additionally, it is a good idea to time yourself taking each section of previously administered exams in order to identify your strengths and weaknesses. Once you have a good idea regarding your academic weaknesses, study well before the test date. Last minute cramming is anxiety-producing.
