Dear Kathy,

My daughter and I have always gotten a little blue in the winter, but this winter it’s been awful. We just hang around the house with no energy or zest to do anything. That’s not like us at all. Do you have any advice?

“Sheana”

Dear Sheana,

You and your daughter may have a condition called “Seasonal Affective Disorder,” which this brutal winter is exacerbating. I suggest that both you and your daughter have full physicals to rule out anything else.

If your doctor diagnoses you with Seasonal Affective Disorder, ask him/her about full spectrum light bulbs as a possible solution. They help some people with this condition. Spring is just around the corner, a fact we all need to hang onto as we weather the end of this cold, hard winter!

All my best,

Kathy
