Remains found on Thursday are likely from missing minister Ethel Monroe, who disappeared on July 7, Yonkers police said.

The discovery was reported by The Journal News.

Police were searching the V. E. Macy Park in Ardsley, New York after a man found Monroe’s purse and shoes, reported the News.

More than 20 police cars had assembled in preparation for the search, and some officers were preparing to go into marshy areas to look for remains.

The man who found the items had been searching for rare bottles.
