The 29-year-old mother who killed her three sons and then attempted to kill herself with a knife early Thursday morning in Phoenix, Ariz., has been identified as Octavia Rogers.
Rogers was arrested shortly after her release from a Phoenix area hospital on June 5, according to an AZCentral report, citing Phoenix Police Department’s Sergeant Trent Crump.
Crump said the mother will face first-degree murder charges for the killings.
Rogers was found with several stab wounds inside her home after appearing distraught to her brother, who lived in the home with her, according to FOX10. As the brother tried to grab towels and assist her, he found her trying to drown herself in the bathtub.

The report states that as Rogers was being removed by emergency personnel, she told officers that her three children were fine and in the care of someone else—but when police checked the house they discovered her three children dead. Her three sons were 8 years, 5 years, and 2 months old.
In a closet in the home, the 8-year-old and 5-year-old were wrapped in sheets, stabbed; the 2-month-old was found placed inside some type of case.
Citing Arizona’s Department of Child Safety, AZCentral reported that over a six year period, there were three reports involving Rogers and her children.
At the time of the stabbings, Crump and other authorities reported that Rogers may have been pregnant—she had reportedly informed her brother that she was, just after he found suffering from several stab wounds to her stomach and other areas of her body, including her neck.
Along with her brother, the woman’s mother also lived in the home, reported FOX10.
