A Mississippi high school teen won homecoming queen and kicked a winning goal all within few hours of winning her tiara on Sept. 7.

Kaylee Foster had just been crowned homecoming queen when she arrived on the football field and changed into her Ocean Springs High School Greyhounds football uniform to wait on the bench, Gulf Live reported.
The scores were 12-12 in overtime play against George County High School, according to WLOX.

The 17-year-old, who also participates in soccer and runs track, was only there to do one thing.

“I was just going out there to kick an extra point,“ Foster told WLOX. ”And now here we are.”

Moments before Foster brought her team victory, her teammate gave her one last word of encouragement.

Foster recalled, “Jack King, the holder, he like looks at me and like ‘it’s ok, Kaylee. Just kick it like you always do. It’s ok.”

“And the next thing I know, everyone is like right there. Just a nice group hug.”

Ocean Springs Greyhounds beat the George County Rebels 13-12 after Foster’s winning point.

Foster was speechless in her interview with Gulf Live.

“I really don’t have any words,” Foster said in her football gear and tiara. “This has just been so wonderful. I love football and I love Ocean Springs.”

Ryan Ross, the head coach of the Greyhounds, didn’t let the rare achievement go unnoticed.

“I'd like to check the whole country and see if it’s ever happened before, it certainly makes for a memorable weekend for the whole team,” Ross told Gulf Live. “But especially Kaylee. It’s a big night for her. I’m proud of her and I’m proud of the team.”

Gulf Live also asked Foster whether she felt more nervous about winning homecoming queen or scoring the winning point.

“I was pretty sure I wasn’t going to be homecoming queen,” she told them. “But I was pretty sure I was going to make that kick.”

After the game, Foster was told that a father told his 9-year-old girl that a homecoming queen had scored a field goal, reported Gulf Live. The daughter responded by saying, “that’s the kind of girl I want to be.”

Shocked and pleased, Foster said she really hoped the 9-year-old will follow through.

“Oh my goodness,” Foster said. “I love that. I think that is so special. I hope she really does decide to play football, because it’s been wonderful and taught me so much. I really appreciate that.”
