A car bomb explosion in a marketplace killed at least 15 people and injured more than 40 near the Iraqi city of Baquba, north of Baghdad, according to the BBC.

The explosion took place near a mosque in the predominantly Shia village and caused buildings to collapse. This is the latest of several attacks in this region in recent days. On Tuesday, a bomb in west Baquba wounded several Iranian pilgrims, and on Monday, another car bomb killed least six people near a restaurant in Baquba.

The capital of Dilaya Province, Baquba is a bastion for al-Qaeda. It is ethnically mixed and one of Iraq’s most unstable provinces. Officials have imposed a curfew in the area fearing that other explosive devices may be planted.
