8-year-old Kaleem from India suffers from a mysterious condition that has caused a debilitating deformity of his hands, weighing roughly 18 pounds apiece.
And for Kaleem, every aspect of daily life is a struggle.
“He has difficulty feeding himself because his fists do not bend properly, so then we have to feed him. Using two fingers he can pick up some things, like a glass of water.”
His unusual appearance has made him a target for the children in the village.
“I do not go to school because the teacher says other kids are scared of my hands.”
And for doctors, the condition has proven difficult to diagnose.
