Firefly Online is getting closer to reality with the release of the first gameplay footage on Friday.

The game is slated to be released sometime this summer for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android.

Players will be spaceship captains (like Malcolm Reynolds), going on missions, assembling crews, and trading with others.

The game will contain over 200 worlds and the cast of the television show are all voicing characters for the game.

“Players take on the role of a ship captain as they hire a crew and lead missions, while trading with and competing against millions of other players like themselves,” the game description says. “Much like the crew of Serenity, the Firefly-class transport ship featured in the original show, players must do whatever it takes to survive in the Verse: find a crew, find a job and keep flying.”

Firefly Online was first announced at the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con.

Joss Whedon, the creator of the cult hit, isn’t involved in the game but is aware of it.

After the game comes out, a later DLC release is planned that would let players play as part of the Alliance or Reavers.
