A gunman apparently robbed a Macy’s department store in the Carlsbad Westfield Plaza Camino Real Mall, located in Southern California, on Wednesday morning, according to local media reports.

ABC-10 reported that the robber was armed with a pistol when he stole merchandise from the Macy’s.

The robber was described as being in his 20s or early 30s, Latino, and he was wearing a torn black-and-white flannel shirt with a black baseball cap that was worn backwards. He had a shaved head and has no facial hair.

Patrol officers were deployed to the mall and were seen searching the surrounding areas for the suspect.

The San Diego Union Times said a police helicopter was also seen overhead to aid in the search.

Officials told NBC that he took several pairs of jeans and placed them in a Macy’s bag after holding up some of the employees.
