Burma’s military-backed political party won almost 80 percent of votes, initial results showed on Wednesday.

The tallies come as little surprise since Sunday’s elections have been described by international observers as extremely flawed, with results engineered by the ruling military junta.

Speaking in Indonesia on Wednesday, President Obama described the elections as “neither free nor fair.”

At least six political parties have filed complaints with Burma’s Union Election Commission, according to Thailand-based Burmese magazine The Irrawaddy.

According to current election results, the junta backed-Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) will take 65 percent of seats in Parliament, another 25 percent of the seats will be filled by military appointed representatives, leaving less than 10 percent of seats for opposition party’s, stated he Irrawaddy.
