President Barack Obama met with his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Medvedev, at the White House on Thursday.

Obama pledged further economic cooperation with Russia and says he supports Medvedev’s bid to join the World Trade Organization, at a press conference.

According to Obama, relations between Russia and the United States drifted when he came to office, and need “resetting.”

The president also said that there remain issues that the United States and Russia disagree on, such as Russia’s invasion of Georgia in 2008.

For lunch, Obama treated Medvedev to a cheeseburger at a hamburger joint outside of Washington, and the two shared fries. “Probably it’s not quite healthy, but it’s very tasty, and you feel—you can feel the spirit of America,” Medvedev said at the press conference about the meal.
