24 ended season 9, Live Another Day, this past week, and fans have been trying to figure out whether the show will be renewed or canceled.

The good news is that the season 9 finale drew 6.5 million viewers with 1.7 million in the 18-49 demo, although producers surely would have wanted a stronger ending. For context, MasterChef drew more viewers in the key demo.

But with so much buzz around the show, some feel that Fox may make a renewal announcement at the upcoming Comic-Con in San Diego.

The 24 panel--featuring Kiefer Sutherland--is slated for Thursday, July 24 at 10 a.m. PDT. It will include Sutherland celebrating the show’s most iconic moments, and highlights of Live Another Day.

“Catch the exclusive sneak peek at highly anticipated Blu-ray and DVD featurette, Worlds Collide, illustrating how the pulse-pounding storytelling was created for this thrilling new season. Screening and discussion moderated by executive producer Jon Cassar to be followed by Q&A,” the description says.

If 24 does return, Digital Spy is among those advocating sticking to the mini-series format.

“Cutting back on Bauer was the smartest thing Fox and the show’s creative team could have done. While classic 24 would lag in pace, tension and quality as it struggled to maintain a single plot across a six-month period, this was the old show without the boring bits,” it said.

“If 24 returns, sticking to the mini-series format seems like the smartest move - it’s not only less of a behemoth logistically but it benefits the show creatively too. Win win.”

It also says that Jack should not return to Los Angeles, instead going to places such as Moscow. And it advocates keeping Kate Morgan, bringing back Belcheck, and reviving more classic characters.
