A woman has shared horrific images of her injuries after she was beaten and strangled in an attack which left her for dead during her holiday at a resort in the Dominican Republic.

In a Facebook post, Tammy Lawrence-Daley, a 51-year-old mother-of-two from Wilmington, Delaware, revealed she was brutally attacked in January while staying at Majestic Elegance—an all-inclusive hotel in the Punta Cana.

Photos show her lying in a hospital bed, her face bruised, bloodied, and battered after the attack.

She was taken to a local medical clinic where she spent five days recovering from her gruesome injuries and even underwent surgery. Her injuries included a torn lip, a broken nose, a fractured hand, and partial hearing loss in her left ear, reported AOL.
She also told People she believes she may have been sexually assaulted due to “damage … down there,” but as it was days after the incident before a rape kit was administered, nothing could be determined definitively.

Four months on, she is “still dealing with several issues, including nerve damage,” she said.

Lawrence-Daley explained that she was on holiday with her husband and another couple when she was attacked on her second day at the resort.

She said on the day of the attack that the four of them arrived home from an 80s music production at around 10:30 p.m. when she decided to go downstairs to get something to eat.

“I told my husband I was going to run downstairs to the lounge in our building for a snack and I’d be back in five minutes,” she wrote in the post.

“I ended up bypassing the lounge in our building, and opted to go to the lounge in the next building, which was on the beach. I thought I could get some pictures of the moon on the water, but I never made it to the beach.”

Lawrence-Daley ended up going missing for eight hours.

She described how she heard heavy footsteps approaching her from behind, when someone “plowed” into her, and wrapped their arms around her and pulled her into an unlocked maintenance room.

“I’m not going to go into the gory details of everything, however, please know that I fought with everything I had at that moment. He was too strong,” she wrote.

Lawrence-Daley then continued to so describe the details of the horrific attack. She was strangled “multiple times to unconsciousness,” she said.

“The next 8 hours brought me pain and fear,” she wrote.

“My lifeless body was drug [sic] down concrete stairs to an underground waste water area. I was kicked in the head, I was beaten with a club. And then strangled again for the kill; at which time he disposed of my body into an area I refer to as the ‘hole.’

“I was unconscious multiple times during this savage attack, so I have no idea what else was done to me during that time. Somehow I survived.”

Lawrence-Daley said her husband and friends had to ask the front desk at least three times before security began looking for her, with Majestic Elegance staff allegedly telling them she had most probably passed out drunk somewhere.

She was rescued almost eight hours later when she cried out for help upon hearing voices on the floor above her, reported AOL.

The woman had claimed that her attacker was a member of staff at the resort and said he was “wearing a uniform with the resort logo.”

She said Majestic Elegance has offered her no support whatsoever and that she has had to pay for all her medical bills herself.

“Majestic Elegance claims no responsibility for the attack since I couldn’t identify the attacker,” she said.

“Police did find evidence of the blood smeared mop handle and a maintenance hat in the area I was found, but this means nothing in these countries.”

After her ordeal, Lawrence-Daley has urged other women to be cautious, wherever they may be.

“This man thought he killed me, but he failed. He is still out there, a predator, waiting for his next victim. Only the next woman may not be so fortunate. Please, please do not walk alone.

“When you are in unfamiliar places, or even in familiar places, please remember … be smart, be safe.”
