An article saying a woman called her boyfriend 77,000 times in a week, leading to her arrest is fake.

The fake report was posted on WorldNewsDailyReport.com, a “satirical” website.

“A New Mexico woman was finally arrested this morning by officers of the Albuquerque Police Department in what could be the most extreme case of stalking ever recorded in the history of the country. The 28-year old woman allegedly not only called her ex-lover a formidable 77 639 times in a week, but also sent him 1937 emails, 41 229 text messages, 217 sung messages and 647 letters in the same period,” the hoax article says. “Linda Murphy, who has an history of obsessive compulsive behavior, would have badly taken her breakup with William Ryans.”

The article was picked up by a few media companies, and a large number of people were commenting on it via social media.

However, according to the website’s disclaimer, it posts fake news only.

“World News Daily Report is a news and political satire web publication, which may or may not use real names, often in semi-real or mostly fictitious ways. All news articles contained within worldnewsdailyreport.com are fiction, and presumably fake news. Any resemblance to the truth is purely coincidental, except for all references to politicians and/or celebrities, in which case they are based on real people, but still based almost entirely in fiction,” it reads.

World News Daily Report has articles with titles including “Descendant of Dracula Arrested for Mass Murder” and “Taiwanese Billionaire Building Life-Size Batman Enclave.”

In the comments section, people appeared to believe the fake phone call story.

“647 letters in one week? You mean hand written letters? I did the math; even if each letter only took 5 minutes to write, that’s still 7.6 hours a day she spent writing letters. But apparently that was a walk in the park, because she also made time each day to write 276 emails, 5,889 texts, and make 11,091 phone calls, on average. That poor man must be terrified lol,” wrote one person.

Added another: “Wow just sink more tax payers money down the hole. this whole story is nonsence where the hell is the real issue???.she should have went directly to the hospital not jail.this is just how the cops and ruined system work now.”
