Widespread internet and cellphone service outages are affecting AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and Spectrum customers on both coasts of the United States.

It is unclear what the cause of the outages is. All four carriers started experiencing problems around 10 a.m., with outages peaking at 2 p.m. Although the outages eased by late afternoon, many areas remain affected.
