A viral picture showing an airline in Nigeria using a ladder to board passengers has been addressed by a government official.

The picture and other photos showed passengers climbing the regular ladder, as opposed to a boarding ramp typically used by airports around the world.

Yakubu Ibn Muhammad, an advisor to the governor of Bauchi State, said in a statement obtained by Nairaland that what happened “was indeed worrisome.”

“But I want to point out that the problem was a minor one and it was resolved in good time,” he added. “The motorize ramp stairs was put right and used for embarkation.”

“In times like this, it is our collective responsibility to pray for our dear state and not point accusing fingers at anyone,” he noted.

People on Facebook discussed the situation.

“Shouldn’t heads serviceable roll? Who is in charge?” said one.

“I thought by now, somebody should either resign or get his butt kicked. But Mr. Yakubu Ibn Mohammed seem to be patronizing us,” said another.
