In the Season 2 finale, Ragnar Lothbrok will return to Kattegat after the defeat in Wessex and will place his trust on those who have stayed by his side this whole time. ”The Lords Prayer” will air on the History Channel on May 1, 2014, at 10 p.m.

In a recent interview, creator of the show, Michael Hirst said that fans can expect the unexpected in the upcoming season finale, even to the point where when you think something is true, it isn’t.

“Ragnar’s rise has been relatively comfortable. And I’m not surprised that some people around him are beginning to question it or beginning to — I totally understand Floki’s position, that everything has been for Ragnar and everyone has been Team Ragnar, and it doesn’t necessarily work in the long term and people have their own agendas and their own interests,” Hirst told Time magazine

Star of the show Donal Logue who plays King Horik said in an earlier interview that the last episode will be tragic.

“It’s a pretty traumatic conclusion. This [finale] ties up a lot of loose ends,” Logue told The Hollywood Reporter. The news outlet speculated that the episode could mean an exit for Logue as he’s tied up with a lead role on the upcoming Fox Batman prequel “Gotham.”

“I’m definitely tied to some other jobs,” Logue said in the interview.
